Nerikomi Rose Flat Bowl

This flat bowl is created using the Japanese Nerikomi technique, in which colored clays are layered, patterned, and sliced to reveal intricate designs that run through the entire body of the piece. The slab is built from clay that I pigmented and mixed by hand, forming natural gradients that come together in a soft, rose‑like pattern. Because the design exists throughout the full thickness of the clay, the pattern remains visible from every angle — not just on the surface.

The form is shaped from this patterned slab and finished with a smooth, glossy surface that highlights the marbling and organic flow of the design. Compact and sculptural, it’s ideal as a jewelry dish, small serving piece, or decorative accent that showcases the beauty of patterned clay work.
